I lived in Sydney for about two years, and believe me or not this was the first time i stepped into this famous thai restaurant.
Khao mok gai, it is a fried rice like dish. It is kinda hard to see from the image, on the top of the rice, is the delicious chicken thigh, it is moisture and well seasoned. I did ask the waiter about the dish, he said the chicken and rice are braised in turmeric and five thai spice, and the sauce is mixture of green chilli and garlic.
The thing about thai food, they always have those sweetness and little bit sour taste which could make you wanna eat more and more, the highlight of this dish is the sauce, it kind of give the dish an extra kick, i would say the sauce really made the dish different from other regular thai cuisine.
This is more like a side dish, it called Kai Nok Gatah, which means fried sweet potato balls, it is quite interesting and you can have a bit of fun when eating it.
Although it is deep fried, it is not that oily, I ate them with my hand, and it is much better than picking up potato chips. The dish is alright, quite interesting, and if you like snacks you would definitly love it.
Last but not least, Guay Jupb, which is rice noodles with some pork serve in broth, this is more like a vitnamese noodles dish, however the noodles is tubular shape, which give you more texture and chewy, again it also contain the thai spice and it is mixed in the broth.
Overall this may not be the best dish to order in chat thai, especially if you looking for something really traditional.
